Adams was among seven siblings that grew up when she was a kid in Castle Rock, Colorado. Her birth was during the time that her father worked in the U.S. Military in Italy. Adams began performing and dancing professionally at the end of the 90s. She was part of Boulder Dinner Theatre, and after that, The Country Dinner Playhouse. She then moved to Minnesota where she was scouted for Drop Dead Gorgeous, a mock documentary film that explored beauty contests. Following her successful screen debut, in which she played an annoying but pleasant contestant, Janet relocating to Los Angeles where she began a professional acting career.
