Jennifer Garner was originally born in Houston Texas on the 17th of April in 1972. She was raised however in Charleston West Virginia. William John Garner served as an engineer at Union Carbide. Her mother Patricia Ann taught at a local university. Her father was a chemical engineer, which is why she wanted to be similar to him. However, because she wanted to fulfill her ambition of becoming actress, she relocating in New York to try her chances in the film industry. She was a chef at the restaurant in New York, and was a part of Broadway productions. She had a cameo role in the show "Felicity." (It was on that show that she met her first husband Scott Foley.) Garner had her first big part on the screen in "13 Going on 30" which was a romantic comedy which was highly acclaimed. She played a teenage girl trapped inside her body as an adult. Garner picked Gary Winick to direct the film. They were looking at other projects until Winick's death in 2011. Garner was awarded the title an artist ambassador for Save the Children U.S.A. In addition to encouraging early education, literacy and nutrition at the local level, the role of Garner also includes promotion of national literacy. Garner is a board member as the group's president since 2014, has been an advocate of early learning. As an ambassador, she regularly visits with families involved in the group's Early Steps to School Success program. The program guides families on how to help youngsters learn.
